Travelling Gavel secured in a Pre-Season raid – September 2024
With three weeks of summer still to go before Morcar brethren resumed for 2024-25 season meetings, 10 of our brethren answered the call, gathering in an attempt to secure the much acclaimed Derbyshire Travelling Gavel. At a superbly conducted raising ceremony at the Royal Alfred Lodge, the Travelling Gavel was awarded to Morcar in having the largest number of visiting members present. In due course we look forward to welcoming similar raids from Derbyshire Lodges both near or far as they come try to take it from us.

Summer 2024 – Social Events
In previous years we have held a summer barbeque, but this with a change of organiser our brethren held a variety of events. All were open to family and friends wether masons or not and could be booked via this site.
Mon 10 June – 10 PIN BOWLING at Mansfield Superbowl. A great night enjoyed by all attending.
Wed 3 July – CURRY NIGHT at Kathmandu Gurkha, Clay Cross. Enjoyed by some of our Curry Connoisseurs with the promise to repeat the event soon. Here enjoyed by rejoining, joining and signed up future candidates.

Tue 3 Sept – WORLD BUFFET NIGHT at Cosmo in Derby. All you can eat from a World of Food – Enjoyed by our “well stuffed” attendees.
Sun 8 Sept – CAR TREASURE HUNT round our area ending at Toby Carvery Watermill, Sutton-in-Ashfield. Initial torrential rain did not stop a gathering of the clan. As the weather cleared all arrived back in good time for lunch despite the Codnor clue being refered to as a “great bird”. Me thinks the map was upside down! (Ed)
February 2024 – Burns Night
Our Haggis Night attracts a great turn out with this year 19 visitors from near and far and a Second Degree ceremony to crown the evening.

November 2023 – Alfreton Remembrance Parade
A note from our Worshipful Master, W Bro P. Baggott… “Sunday marks a very important day in our calendar where we remember all those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our future and safety in all conflict home and abroad, of every race, gender and creed. We have a duty to spend time thinking about this sacrifice and it is my honour to do so too.” The photograph shows a few of the early arriving, Morcar brethren with others from sister lodges joining us for the annual parade to Alfreton Cenetaph.

January 2023 – TLC Teddies
Following our January White Table event 2023, W Bro Tomlinson, TLC’s Derbyshire coordinator was delighted in turn to support East Midlands Ambulance Service with the donation of boxes of their wonderful teddies. W Bro Riches, Team Leader at EMAS and a past master of Morcar Lodge 8458 was only too please to accept responsibility for their distribution within the Ambulance Services to members of the public they support.
Morcar Lodge have been proud to supports of Teddies for Loving Care (TLC) Derbyshire with numerous donations over the years.

The teddies, individually wrapped and will be carried on ambulances or given out free to hospitals and hospices. Since the national scheme was adopted in Derbyshire in 2004 more than 68,000 teddies have brought comfort to injured and distressed children of the region.
