February 2024 – Burns Night

Our Haggis Night attracts a great turn out with this year 19 visitors from near and far and a Second Degree ceremony to crown the evening.

January 2024 – Charity White Table Event

Our annual White Table event, attended by family and friends. where our Worshipful Master and Charity Steward presented Charitable Donations totalling £1500 from funds collected by our brethren to deserving local Charities. They included TLC Teddies Appeal (not pictured), Life Commitment Dog Rescue, Amber Valley Community Responder Group and Riddings Park Community Centre. 

January 2024 – Spring Ball / Ladies Festival – Tickets Now Available

This year our Ladies Festival is a joint collaboration between the Morcar and St Thomas Lodges in Alfreton and is relauched as The Spring Ball.

It will be the usual Black Tie event with a three course sit down meal, to be held on Saturday 20th April at Shirland Golf and Country Club. Entertainment will be provided by Professional Guitarest, Singer and DJ, Ciaron Elm. (Facebook)

The detailed schedule for the event is still in the planning stage but you can anticipate along with the usual fun and friendship, a formal thank you to our kind ladies for continuing to let us out to enjoy our “boys stuff” accompanied with the opportunity to win fine prizes in our charitable raffle.

Tickets are limited and will initially be issued only to the brethren of both lodges.

November 2023 – Alfreton Remembrance Parade

A note from our Worshipful Master, W Bro P. Baggott… “Sunday marks a very important day in our calendar where we remember all those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our future and safety in all conflict home and abroad, of every race, gender and creed.  We have a duty to spend time thinking about this sacrifice and it is my honour to do so too.”  The photograph shows a few of the early arriving, Morcar brethren with others from sister lodges joining us for the annual parade to Alfreton Cenetaph.

January 2023 – TLC Teddies

Following our January White Table event 2023, W Bro Tomlinson, TLC’s Derbyshire coordinator was delighted in turn to support East Midlands Ambulance Service with the donation of boxes of their wonderful teddies. W Bro Riches, Team Leader at EMAS and a past master of Morcar Lodge 8458 was only too please to accept responsibility for their distribution within the Ambulance Services to members of the public they support.

Morcar Lodge have been proud to supports of Teddies for Loving Care (TLC) Derbyshire with numerous donations over the years.

The teddies, individually wrapped and will be carried on ambulances or given out free to hospitals and hospices.  Since the national scheme was adopted in Derbyshire in 2004 more than 68,000 teddies have brought comfort to injured and distressed children of the region.
